A statement from the church said, “Bishop Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention. He is stable and under the care of medical professionals.” During the sermon, Jakes had been sitting and wiping his forehead, reflecting on the emotional toll of preaching. Moments later, he appeared to experience convulsions, prompting the livestream to be cut off.
